2025 US civics test, question 5

How are changes made to the U.S. Constitution?

Official answers

USCIS accepts any one of these:

  • Amendments
  • The amendment process

Explained

A change to the Constitution is called an amendment, and the Constitution itself explains how it can be changed. An amendment is added only when three-fourths of the states approve it, which lets the people change their government.
